In 1993, Morton Buildings designed (by a professional design group) and constructed a beautiful new church in Edwardsville, IL. The Center Grove Presbyterian Church was so new, the congregation was still undecided about where to put some of the stained glass. Then, only six weeks after completion of the interior, lightning struck, sparking a fire that damaged much of the structure, both inside and out. Dick Rutherford, Litchfield, IL Sales Consultant, met with the church board to discuss plans for rebuilding the damaged church. "The congregation was so pleased with the first Morton Building, they didn't hesitate to hire us the second time around," Rutherford stated. According to Rutherford, the second "new" Morton-built Center Grove Church (completed in April of 1996) is similar to the first building with only a few minor changes, designs the congregation decided would enhance the church more. "We created a slightly different look on the entry porch. We raised the entire building to allow more room for the choir loft, and the full circle window on the south end was increased in diameter from five to six feet." Added Rutherford, "the congregation loved this feature, and thought it would add even more to the exterior appeal of the church." The board and congregation have been extremely happy with their new church and delighted they went with Morton Buildings, both times. |
