Aluma Steel® Door System

.

A Morton Buildings' Exclusive

 Sliding Door

.

Morton Buildings' AlumaSteel® sliding doors are warranted for 5 years against windload damage with no wind velocity limit. AlumaSteel® double sliding doors are offered in standard widths ranging from 12' to 40'.

Not only are AlumaSteel® doors strong, but they are also lightweight. These doors are so lightweight, in fact, that a small child can open or close a large door with one finger. This special attribute is due, in part, to National Manufacturing Company's 16 gauge high tensile door track and steel roller bearing trolley hangers offered by Morton Buildings. National Manufacturing's tracks also stand up to wear and distortion other tracks experience from the weight of sliding doors.

.

 Trolley Hanger

In certified tests by the Pittsburgh Testing Laboratory, Morton Buildings' AlumaSteel® sliding doors tested 1.8 to 2.2 times stronger than brand "X" steel doors. All doors tested were the same size (24' x 14' double door) and were loaded with a uniform load to simulate windload.

Morton Buildings' AlumaSteel® Derives Its Strength From:

.

 beam
  • An aluminum I-beam shaped vertical rail. Generally, the I-beam shape is the strongest, most efficient, rigid, and economical shape for structural bending members. The aluminum I-beam shape used in the AlumaSteel® sliding door is engineered to carry the highest possible load, considering both buckling and tensile failure due to the bending loads.
  • An aluminum I-beam shaped horizontal rail.
  • A vertical to horizontal rail connection. Prepunched holes in vertical rails match up with integral screw grooves in horizontal rails for accurate assembly. Screw together assembly makes repairs simple on doors damaged by accidents or collisions.
  • Steel C-shaped upper and lower rails.
  • An aluminum I-beam shaped upper rail stabilizer strut. This strut strengthens the upper rail at the trolley hanger load points.
  • Steel C-shaped end channel connectors. The heavy duty vertical to lower rail connector interlocks with door guides in the open and closed positions.
