Buildings are covered with steel panels.  Steel is a wonderful product because it gives the strength needed to resist both wind loads and snow loads.  It gives more strength per pound than most other materials. 

The steel used in Morton buildings is commercial quality steel with a minimum thickness of 19 thousandths of an inch.  Most others use full hard steel 29 gauge, which can have a thickness that measures as low as 14 thousandths of an inch.

Full hard steel is more brittle and is more likely to cause cracks or fractures in the zinc and paint during the roll forming process.
