The reports of high heating costs this winter are becoming common gossip around the nation. Consumers are worried about heating their homes and businesses with the most efficiency while still staying warm in the cold winter months. Working with the building industry, the Department of Energy has made it a goal to reduce the energy use of new commercial buildings by 20% by the year 2010 and by 50% by 2020. Morton Buildings is doing their part to keep energy use and costs down for consumers and has been for nearly 30 years. When invented in 1971, Morton's Energy Performer® insulation system exceeded the future mandates of the Energy Policy Act of 1992. Consumers who have Morton Buildings' Energy Performer® insulation system in their building are resting calmly this winter, knowing their energy-saving Morton building will keep their energy costs low. Morton Buildings regularly receives reports of satisfied customers whose low utility bills still surprise them. Morton Buildings even receives reports from customers with disbelieving utility companies. With energy use so low in the well-insulated Energy Performer® building, utility companies sometimes suspect errors or fraudulent practices from their Morton building owners. The fact is Energy Performer® building owners use less energy and save more money because their buildings are so well-insulated. We have compiled some of our customer testimonials to demonstrate how effective Morton's Energy Performer® insulation system really is. |

Gregory and Marjorie Johnson, of Grafton, North Dakota, were surprised to receive a letter from their local electric co-operative claiming they had not used their electric heating system as their primary source of heat, (which, by the way is part of the agreement when joining a co-op.) The electric co-operative explained they could not offer the Johnson's their usual "off-peak rate" any longer since they had not used their electric heating system as the primary source of heat. However, the Johnson's reviewed their records and explained to the company: "The fact is that we (have) a very tight 'Morton Building Energy Performer®' insulated (building), which makes our usage low." The electric company responded with a letter stating that after further investigation and review, they would reinstate the Johnson's "off-peak rate." The First Lutheran Church of Arland in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin was concerned with the rebuilding of its church after a catastrophic fire destroyed the nearly 100-year-old church in 1991. A big concern was the cost of heating the new church, as the proposed new church was more than double the size of the old church. However, after the church decided to hire Morton Buildings, they were not disappointed. "We were skeptical of the claims of the Sales Representative about the efficiency of the Morton Buildings insulation system when he said that we could probably heat the church during the heating season for about $2,000.00. We held our first service in February 1992, to the present and the heating costs for the church has been everything that it was represented to be in heating efficiency, from the low of $1,200.00 to the maximum of $1,800.00..." The insulation qualities of the Angst's building make it easy for them to work in the building and store materials in freezing temperatures. Even summer cooling is a breeze-if only their house was so well insulated... "We have had a Morton building since 1992 and it still looks like it did when we bought it. It is 60' x 42' and well insulated. It is heated by a propane 90,000 BTU furnace. It doesn't have to be on only when I want to work in the building. I can turn it on and in an hours time it will be up to 70. The building never freezes in the winter no matter how cold it gets, even without the heat on. I can store paint and other materials without them freezing. When it is 0 degrees outside and the heater is on and it reaches the temperature it is set for it will only run 15 minutes out of an hour. That's about 1/4 of a gallon in an hour. It is very economical to heat. In the summer, if the doors are kept shut it stays very cool. The building has a Hamilton, Ohio |
